Really, I do! ...um.  Okay, okay, yes, I do.

I've just started using our new Volunteer Management process (managed by our association management company, Base Consulting), to find more volunteers for the Architecture Review Board. The job description and application form will be posted shortly - with the new site launch, I think - but if you're interested in finding out more, send me an email or comment on this post. This is what's going to show up shortly:

Work Involved:

This board will operate as a committee of the SLT, and be chaired by the Chief Architect. The ARB will develop the most critical elements of our Enterprise Architecture, including:

  • our Operating Model for Chapters,
  • our Operating Model for relationships with other players in the BA space (members, BA Professionals, organizations like Catalyze, RQNG, BA Times, IIR, etc.),
  • the technical architecture of our various systems.

In addition, the ARB will:

  • assess and manage change at an organizational level.
  • establish our operating processes
  • develop our short and long term plans
  • start to create key deliverables.

Time Commitment Required:

The estimated time commitment for ARB volunteers will require about two hours a week during our initiation phase, both to meet and to work. The load should decrease to an hour per week at between three and six months.

Travel Requirements:

None expected. Meetings and work are intended to be virtual / electronic.

Desired Background:

The core team will be relatively small (4-8 people), but each member may find others to assist in their specific work. Volunteers should have experience in business modeling, technical architecture and other BA techniques and disciplines, but creativity and enthusiasm are as important as experience; this group will need a mix of both to succeed.
