User Experience Web Analyst
Position Summary:
Zappos is seeking a User Experience Web Analyst to join our rapidly growing User Experience team. The User Experience Web Analyst gathers information about how site visitors actually use the website and analyzes this information to improve usability and drive sales. This position will work closely with the Merchandising, Marketing, Creative, and Technical teams to optimize the customer experience.
Reporting to the User Experience Manager, the User Experience Web Analyst will be the personified voice of the consumer, translating customer data/feedback into actionable research. They will coordinate all activities concerning user analysis obtained via varying user centered design methodologies and web analytics.
The User Experience Web Analyst will expand upon an existing understanding of our customer needs and desires through the development of business insights from customer research, including: website analytics, online forums, consumer surveys, internal call center surveys, and usability facilitation and testing.
The Analyst needs to have a strong understanding of usability, ecommerce, Internet technology, competition, and emerging trends to ensure the website delivers a world class shopping experience.
User Experience Web Analyst responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Report and interpret web statistics in order to identify trends, support business analysis efforts, and provide information to support an enhanced user experience.
- Translate research findings into actionable recommendations that lead to business growth, enhanced user experience and the development of key results-orientated initiatives.
- Responsible for monthly traffic forecasting & reporting process for UX team.
- Develop, implement and analyze surveys for User Experience.
- Help develop and evolve best practices for analyzing user behavior and determine most effective approaches for driving the best user experience.
- Participate in project requirements & design meetings to ensure accurate web metrics can be acquired.
- Be the primary UX contact for our Customer Loyalty Team call center. Oversee current UX/Customer Loyalty Team cross-departmental initiatives.
- Develop new initiatives with other departments that focus on enhancing the customer experience.
- Gather and synthesize customer experience data findings into actionable recommendations for website changes that will enhance UX.
- Work with marketing, merchandising and technical teams to prioritize recommendations based on business impact and technical feasibility.
- Work with Usability specialists to help develop and conduct research (focus groups and usability testing).

The ideal candidate will have the following skills/qualifications:
- Experience in web analytics and performance measurement, excellent business analysis skills, understanding of web languages and technology (HTML, Javascript, Cookies, XML), and experience with web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Omniture, Coremetrics, WebTrends, etc.)
- Ability to produce actionable business insight, not just reports.
- Strong entrepreneurial skills; desire to build the business in partnership with other departments within the company.
- Ability to distill complex data into easily understood information and to translate key metrics into monetization models that are readily understood by cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical, quantitative and communication skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate a solid background in data analysis and reporting, analysis of website activity, and the ability to analyze multiple data sources and identify inconsistencies.
- A team player who can easily adapt in a rapidly changing/evolving environment.
- The ability and willingness to mentor junior level staff.
- Minimum Experience Requirement: 3+ years experience performing work related to this job function.
- Minimum Education Requirement: BA/BS Degree or equivalent work experience.
