I ran across an interesting product today called ConceptShare.  The product is touted as helping to make online design collaboration easier, and they recently won an award at "Under the Radar" conference.

Here's some 'marketing' description from their website.

"ConceptShare allows you to easily share designs inside Workspaces that contain designs related to a certain topic or project.

It’s easy to invite people into a workspace. Invite team members, managers, clients, and consultants to add and reply to comments, chat and markup designs.

Capturing feedback early in the design process can help to speed up innovation and increase the accuracy of designs. Designers typically hit a wall when they finish a design to their best efforts and can’t go any further without input from others."

I signed up for a free account and did a quick example using the Catalyze homepage as an example.

This seems like a pretty useful tool and I'm wondering if anyone is using this in real practice.  If you're using it and have some comments, please share your feedback with the community by replying to this post.

You can get more info and a free trial account at www.conceptshare.com.

This is a great site but only for smart ppl :). I loved the idea how the tool can literally screen scrap different sites and ppl can collaboratively have there comments over it.

Thanks for the link, I might use this in future in some project.

Yes, I have an account. We have used it in our company internally for a couple of concepts, and once with a client.

It's easy to setup and use. Simple interface. I really like the way that you can attach notes to specific areas of a design.

But... We tried to send a link to a client to have him view and concepts and participate. I think he logged in successfully at one point, but never took the time to add notes. Since then I have just been emailing PDFs and JPGs of concepts and getting feedback through email. So it's efficieny for client collaboration remains to be seen for me. But I am definitely going to try to incorporate it again.

Our creative group in the US is trying ConceptShare to collaborate with our creative team in EU. It is a good tool for posting, viewing and commenting on creative. No real bells and whistles. Our particular concern is security -- while log-in credentials are required it still remains to be seen whether or not information posted is totally secure. It might be a risky place for companies that have highly proprietary design work to post their files.

Another really interesting tool with broader file support and better security is from a company called Octopz Inc. You can download a fully functional trial version at www.octopz.com
