Jessica Hill, Director, Strategic Planning & Innovation at TennCare, presents TennCare’s 2019 cost and quality results for the many episodes of care Tennessee’s Medicaid program has implemented since 2014, when it first embarked on an ambitious plan to use episode-based payment with health care providers across the state. Flash forward to 2020, the Episodes of Care Program now rewards high quality and cost-effective acute and specialist-driven care across more than 40 distinct episodes, like perinatal care, acute asthma exacerbation, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
